Another Banner

I tell ya, they're everywhere!

This one was a twist on one I saw in a Die Cuts With A View catalog. I cannot find the exact link right now, but the original was just made of circles sewn together. I am obsessed with my 3" scalloped punch, so I used it. I punched out several circles from patterned Valentine paper, vellum and solid cardstock. I put about 4 or 5 together and sewed them in a line. I sewed ribbon onto the ends to hang it up. Then fanned them out and ta-da...
You could make this as long as you want. Mine is only about 9 circles wide so that it fit onto my decorative rod.

Good Fortune for Valentine's Day

So, I saw these on Martha Stewart. I secretly am amazed at her talent!
I wish I could have found LARGE take-out boxes for these.
Maybe that would have made me LOVE them more?

Who knew that I would be drawn to making these? After all, they are made of... felt! Admittedly, I don't love the way they turned out, and they were anything but easy to make. I struggled to get the "shape" right. Infact, I almost tossed them! But I did feel better about displaying them after my daughter's friend told me that she thought they "are adorable." And if I can brag a little here, a couple of her friends thought all my Valentine's decor was "fun and cute." At least her friends think I'm talented... it's a start.

Valentine Banner

Just look at any scrapbook or craft magazine and you'll see banners of every size, shape, material, etc. They are all the rage right now. And I'm love, love, love with them!! And I just might go overboard with them... who knows?

This is my first (and favorite) banner, so far!

How To: Cut triangles and scalloped triangles out of felt. Sew them together. Sew them onto the length of ribbon. I cut the letters and heart out of patterned Valentine fabric (which you can't see in the photo- sorry) with my Cricut {I couldn't live without my personal die-cutting machine!} Sew the letters onto the triangles, after ironing them onto black felt with wonder under.
Man, I used my sewing machine AND iron for this project. Not likely to happen very often!

Valentine Wreath

I'm not sure if I love it, or just tolerate it? I was so excited to make this:

But it just didn't turn out the way I pictured.

How To: scrapbooks, etc. describes it best. I didn't use the styrofoam wreath, I used a cheap dollar store wreath that I spray painted red. {I LOVE spray paint, too!} I wasn't in love with the paper sucker in the original, so I left it off.
Not my best or my favorite, but it was an attempt, nonetheless.

I created this blog for my attempts of creativity. I will SOON be posting some pictures and "how I did it's." I just want to warn you that I love vinyl, Mod Podge, paper, my hot glue gun, felt, flowers, & ribbon. I also like to try to make jewelry. In each post I will give credit when credit is due- because most of the time, the ideas are not my own!
