Yumminess

That's not a word, right? But it is to me... it's the word I use to describe this masterpiece:

A most delightful ice cream cake!
I attempted to make an ice cream cake for my husband for Father's Day. I had drooled (yes, publicly) over the ice cream cakes made at my local Coldstone Creamery. And then I checked out the price... whoa! So I used my resources, i.e. Google, and made my own. A chocolate cake, some Tillamook Mudslide ice cream and some chocolate frosting and wah-la! A triple chocolate mound of goodness (and calories!) to enjoy. My husband sure enjoyed it and was shocked that I had baked, let alone a cake that has alot of steps to it!

Oh, did you notice that cake plate/stand? That's another post...

A Lonely Little Dresser

Please see #3 in this POST. Here are the before pics:

I am so pleased with how it turned out. I will be putting those pics up as soon as I get the knobs on. I'm being kind of picky about this particular part of the project. Actually, my daughter and I have differing opinions. Just one of those things.
My dad commented the other day, he said "Is that really the same dresser that was down in the corner of the basement?" Yep, daddy-o, it is. I know, I know. Can't believe what a coat of paint & some other little details will do for a blah piece of furniture...

Take A Seat

This little number was in sad, sorry shape when I brought her home. ;( She was in desperate need of TLC from Kerry. Infact, every time I walked by her (she was sitting at the salon where I work) she would pretty much beg me to take her home.

The only part of this project I didn't like was returning her to her real home. I'm moving on...

ALOT of sanding, which I enjoyed, a coat of primer (both the spray kind and the roll on stuff) and some painting skills and wa-lah! I painted the seat and the back of the chair creme, the actual color is called Latte. I then placed the stencils on and painted the entire thing black. I need to give credit over here for the gorgeous stencil. I printed the pattern on the reverse side of some contact paper. Is it still called that? Ya know the stuff you stick inside drawers and shelves? I got mine at the $ store! Can you say "cheap?" And then used my small pointy scissors to cut out the details. It's all worth it! The bird stencil was cut using the Cricut and the Wall Decor & More Cartridge. I had to touch up little places where the paint bled under the stencil, which was my least favorite part, but in the end I was pleased with how she turned out.

The owner of this seat is more than thrilled. YAY!

The Big Reveal

Okay, remember this POST and this POST? Well, here's the finished product. Can I just say this is my most favorite piece of furniture in my whole house right now?

This little beauty was sanded (with my brand new toy sander,) primed and painted. I used High Gloss Black Valspar (from Lowe's) paint. Over there at Lowe's, they pretty much know me by name at the paint counter! And I recovered the seat with the same fabric that I made my curtains out of. It's a perfect match! She's a keeper! (and don't you forget, I only paid $6 for her.)

Gifts for my Girls

So, at church I am the Activity Days leader of the 10-11 year old girls. It's a fun "job", we call it a calling. A bunch of giggly girls get together every other week to create, plan, or discuss certain goals. The only down-fall: they leave into the Youth Program when they turn 12. ;(
I make these necklaces for them when they have their birthdays and move on.

A simple washer tied with a ribbon, a gold paper circle and a sticker topped with Diamond Glaze. Easy!
